"Sex is in the heels!"

Said Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor), the feisty Simon in drag who loves red (NOT burgundy! --- oh horrors!), 2.5ft thigh-high, 4-inch kinky stiletto boots.

What is it about sexy shoes that makes women drool over it? What is it about stiletto heels that makes you wish you own those gorgeous pairs? ... even if, as my friend, Ia said, "You can probably wear them for 2 mins... and that's it."

Based on a true story, Kinky Boots is about a very proper, very straight, very traditional 4-generation Englishman's shoe factory that is threatened to go out of business if Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton), the often hapless heir of the factory, does not do something bold and drastic.

Enter the brilliant, vodka-shooting ("Helps you forget the pain"), red-obsessed ("It's the color of sex... and fear and anger and signs that say, Do Not Enter!"), dreamer-slash-jaded Queen-of-the-Night, Lola. She inspires Charlie, including the half-wit chauvinist pigs in the factory, to go out there and embrace change, to dare not to care about what people think... to BE a man.

It is ironic that it should come from a transvestite dressed in a bright blue silk blouse and matching stilettos with bejewelled straps, but as Charlie said towards the end of the movie, "... if it involves being brave, then you are more of a man than I'll ever be."

Touche.

Lola, Kinky Boots: Thing is, Mike, ask any woman what she likes most in a man. Compassion, tenderness and sensitivity. Traditionally the female virtues. Perhaps what women secretly desire is a man who is fundamentally a woman.

it's ok...
if you waited 15 mins for your Butcher's Snack lunch order only for the waiter to tell you that today, they actually do not have Butcher's Snack available
